A Simple Murder by Eleanor Kuhns

Set in 1795, A Simple Murder involves a shaker community and the outside world in solving a mysterious murder.  Rees, a traveling Weaver, takes on the responsibility of searching for the killer. Other mysterious disappearances are discovered to also be murders, causing the community to be in jeopardy of being dissolved.  This gives the reader an unusual picture of an early communal shaker society.
